Job Title: Full-Time Butler

Location: Upperville, Virginia

Position Type: Full-Time (Live-In or Live-Out)

Job Overview: A private shooting estate nestled in the picturesque Virginia countryside seeks an experienced and dedicated Butler to oversee household operations, assist with shooting parties and guests, and perform valet duties. This role requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the owners and the estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and day-to-day operations of the Virginia property.
  • Act as a chauffeur locally and in the wider Washington D.C. area, driving to restaurants, airports, etc., and maintaining vehicles.
  • Organize and coordinate occasional small events and dinner parties, including working with vendors for supplies and arrangements.
  • Arrange and manage shooting parties, both onsite and offsite, coordinating with property staff, outside vendors, and guests.
  • Prepare light meals, coffee, cocktails, and other refreshments as directed.
  • Manage all vendors and subcontractors involved with the estate.
  • Conduct weekly property inspections and walkthroughs.
  • Perform valet duties, including polishing shoes and boots, and overseeing the owner’s gun collection, including cleaning and maintaining the gun room.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking luggage for business and personal trips, including hunting excursions.
  • Run errands at the owner's request.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties when housekeepers are not onsite.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent references and a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings, typically with advance notice.
  • Comfort and experience working with and around firearms.
  • High level of discretion and respect for privacy.
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to adapt and multitask.
  • Attention to detail and previous experience in service roles.
  • Knowledge of etiquette and protocol.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, wines, and bartending.
  • Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk extensively, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Dog friendly (no children in the household, but one dog).

Compensation:

  • Salary: $40 - $45/hour (negotiable based on experience and schedule).
  • Living Accommodations: Available if needed.
  • Benefits: Vacation, health insurance.

Work Schedule:

  • Thursday to Monday, with flexibility to adjust workdays as needed.

  • Adults: 2
  • Current Staff: 2 Housekeepers

Application Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to provide at least 2 references.
  • Must pass stringent background checks and drug testing upon offer of hire.

Duration:

  • Long-term commitment expected.
