Job Title: Director of Preschool and Lead Teacher

Location: Raleigh, NC

Job Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM or 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, to be coordinated with the secondary teacher)

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000+ per year

Overview:

Private Business in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Preschool and Lead Teacher to oversee its small private preschool, exclusively serving the children of its employees. The preschool accommodates up to 10 children, ranging in age from birth to kindergarten. This role combines administrative leadership with hands-on teaching responsibilities, ensuring that the safety and educational components remain top priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:

    • The Director will oversee the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for all children.
    • They will develop, implement, and regularly update the preschool curriculum to meet developmental milestones and educational standards.
    • The Director will collaborate with the secondary teacher to coordinate schedules, lesson plans, and daily activities.
    • They will maintain open and effective communication with parents, staff, and company leadership.
    • They will complete Preschool Director courses to be credentialed as a Director, with costs covered by the company.
  • Teaching:

    • The Director will lead classroom instruction, providing age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
    • They will foster a positive learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore.
    • The Director will conduct assessments to track children's progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
    • They will engage in hands-on activities, including storytime, arts and crafts, play, and more.
  • Operational Duties:

    • The Director will manage classroom organization, including cleaning up after activities and ensuring materials are properly stored.
    • They will assist in daily maintenance tasks such as picking up garbage and maintaining a tidy learning space.
    • The Director will work collaboratively with the secondary teacher to ensure a smooth and consistent operation.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong curriculum development skills and a passion for early childhood education are essential.
  • The Director should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously with colleagues is a must.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is required.
