Part Time Housekeeper/Family Assistant

Part-Time Live-Out Housekeeper & Family Assistant – Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia

A busy physician, who is only in residence about 1 week out of the month in the Rittenhouse Square area is seeking a part-time, live-out housekeeper and apartment manager to provide comprehensive care for their 1,500 sq. ft. apartment. This unique role blends traditional housekeeping with family assistant duties, offering flexibility and independence, especially when the principal is out of town.

Location: Downtown Philadelphia, Rittenhouse Square
Apartment: 1,500 sq. ft., 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms in a doorman building
Schedule: Flexible (approximately 20-25 hours per week, with more flexibility when the principal is away)

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeping Duties:

  1. Cleaning & Tidying

    • Sweep, mop, and polish floors; vacuum carpets and rugs
    • Dust surfaces, clean mirrors, tubs, showers, and basins
    • Empty trash containers and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen
    • Clean appliances, including refrigerators, wine fridge, coffee makers, etc.
    • Maintain the outdoor living space, folding throw blankets and arranging decorative pillows
  2. Laundry & Linen Care

    • Wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry, including bed linens
    • Handle dry cleaning (drop off/pick up)
    • Change bed linens and make beds to hotel standard
  3. General Household Maintenance

    • Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and household essentials
    • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and sanitary
    • Water and care for indoor plants

Apartment Management:

  1. Errands & Inventory Management

    • Grocery shopping or organizing delivery orders
    • Keep track of refrigerated items and pantry stock
    • Sort mail, manage packages, and handle returns
    • Check on the principal’s car in the building’s garage
  2. Vendor & Service Coordination

    • Meet service agents (e.g., cable, internet, etc.)
    • Oversee special projects such as organizing closets or gift wrapping
    • Assist with preparing the apartment for guests and special occasions

Preparation for Principal’s Return:
Adopt an "all hands-on deck" approach, ensuring the apartment is meticulously clean and ready for the principal’s arrival.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong attention to detail and a sense of pride in their work
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Honest, trustworthy, and discreet
  • Skilled in organizing and managing household tasks
  • A driver’s license with a clean record is preferred but not required
