Position: Afterschool Nanny/Family Assistant

Location: Bethesda, MD

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday:
    • Typical hours: 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM or 12:30 PM – 6:30 PM (depending on what is agreed upon).
  • 25–30 hours per week.
Salary: $30–$35/hour (W2 through SurePayroll)

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Mileage Reimbursement: At the IRS mileage rate for job-related driving (must be willing to use personal car).
  • PTO: 10 days per year.
  • Paid Holidays: Major holidays observed.

Position Overview:
A warm and energetic family in Bethesda, MD, is seeking an organized and active Afterschool Nanny/Family Assistant to care for their two children, a 5-year-old  and an 8-year-old, and provide household support. This role is a combination of childcare and family assistance, requiring someone who is proactive, kind but firm, and capable of keeping the children engaged, organized, and active.

Responsibilities:

Childcare:

  • Meet the children at the bus stop and assist with their transition home.
  • Transport children to activities when needed. 
  • Support with homework and encourage the completion of chores.
  • Engage the children in a balance of active outdoor play (e.g., playing catch or sports) and creative indoor activities.
  • Foster a tidy and organized environment, teaching and encouraging the children to clean their spaces.
  • Provide firm but kind guidance, creating a structured and supportive atmosphere.

Household Assistance:

  • Grocery shopping and food prep (e.g., washing and chopping vegetables).
  • Tidying common areas between housekeeper who comes weekly. 
  • Maintaining organization in the home
  • Family laundry, weekly linens, and light household tasks.
  • Errands: Returns, dry cleaning, etc  
  • Utilizing shared digital tools (e.g., task organizers, Google Calendar, etc) to stay aligned with family needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Active and enjoys outdoor play and sports with children.
  • Creative and capable of balancing active outdoor play with indoor creative arts and crafts.
  • Organized and comfortable with shared task organizers and digital tools.
  • Kind, firm, and able to establish a balance between structure and fun.
  • Comfortable with dogs (the family has a miniature poodle).
  • Valid driver’s license and Reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
  • Full background and drug screenings will be conducted upon an offer of hire.
