House Manager

Montecito, California

Our LA based client is looking for a House Manager for their additional residence in Montecito, CA. The home is 11,000 square feet.   They are looking for a professional and organized house manager to oversee daily household operations. You will be responsible for supervising staff, coordinating maintenance / vendors, managing household inventories, and ensuring the home runs efficiently and comfortably. The ideal candidate is discreet, detail-oriented, and has experience managing upscale residences.  The family only visits the home about 1 month out of the year so you will not see them very often and the home will be vacant most of the time.  

This position is Monday - Friday...9am - 5pm.

House Manager Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervise a Housekeeper
  • Schedule and oversee household maintenance and repairs
  • Manage household inventory, supplies, and grocery procurement
  • Coordinate events, guests, and travel arrangements
  • Monitor and maintain household budgets and expenses
  • Ensure the home is well-maintained, clean, and guest-ready
  • Liaise with contractors, service providers, and vendors
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and reporting

House Manager Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Discretion and respect for privacy
  • Proficiency in managing household systems and staff
  • Tech-savvy and familiar with smart home systems
  • Ability to handle emergencies and solve problems independently

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or management degree preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in household management or similar roles
  • Prior experience supervising staff and managing operations

Compensation

        *  $90 - $100K
        *  Vacation time
