Location: Mamaroneck NY

Start Date: Latest September 2025 - Flexible to start sooner

Schedule: Monday–Saturday or Tuesday–Saturday (up to candidate discretion if you would rather 5 or 6 days), roughly 7 AM – 4 PM, with flexibility for extended hours as needed.

Compensation: $40/hour (W-2), plus overtime for hours over 40 hours per week

Benefits: 2 weeks paid time off, 5 paid sick days

Duration: Ideally many years

Overview:

A loving family in Larchmont, NY is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and experienced Nanny/Family Assistant to support their dynamic household with three children: a 10-year-old daughter with special medical and developmental needs, a 7-year-old son, and a 2-year-old son. The family is navigating complex childcare demands, and the mother, who is facing ongoing health challenges, is looking for a proactive and flexible team member who can step in seamlessly where needed.

This role involves a balance of childcare and household assistance. The right candidate will be someone comfortable working alongside a stay-at-home parent, able to anticipate needs, and confident in making decisions independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, special needs childcare to the family’s 10-year-old daughter with SCN2A disorder, who is non-verbal and medically complex

  • Support with diapering, dressing, bathing, feeding, and sensory-aware supervision, including being aware of signs of seizures, discomfort, or overstimulation

  • Assist with the two younger children, ages 7 and 2, depending on the day’s needs

  • Participate in morning routines: preparing children for school, activities (hockey, swim, etc), and transportation assistance when needed

  • Accompany the family to medical appointments and social events; step in to help regulate and remove the special needs child from overstimulating environments when necessary

  • Assist with light household organization, errands, tidying, and projects;  no deep cleaning as a housekeeper comes twice weekly

  • Coordinate with mom and home aide to ensure seamless transitions and shared responsibilities; coordinate responsibilities with the mother - a go with the flow personality is imperative.

  • Be available to provide additional support during emergencies, unexpected schedule changes, or hospital visits

  • Saturday coverage is required; the client is open to this being 5 or 6 days based on candidate's desire and availability

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience working with children, including caring for children with significant special needs

  • Knowledge of seizure signs, dysautonomia, sensory processing challenges, and non-verbal communication techniques

  • Ability to read the household’s needs and step in without constant instruction; comfortable working alongside a stay-at-home parent in a collaborative manner

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Emotionally mature, patient, and calm under pressure

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Willingness to be paid on the books as a W-2 employee

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required
