Compensation: $30–$45+ per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Flexible, 30–40 hours per week. They are very flexible on the schedule and will accomodate the needs of the right candidate.

Overview:
A principal is seeking a professional and flexible Butler/Household Manager to provide comprehensive household management and personal assistance. The principal is in his 70s, in excellent health, preparing for retirement. He enjoys cooking but welcomes support with meal preparation. A housekeeper will be employed part-time, visiting once or twice a week. This role also requires care for the principal’s spaniel, assistance with travel plans, and house-sitting duties during trips.

Responsibilities:

Household Management

  1. Oversee daily household operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the home.
  2. Coordinate schedules for household maintenance and repairs.
  3. Supervise and collaborate with other household staff, including cleaners, gardeners, and contractors.
  4. Keep the home tidy and organized between housekeeper visits.

Personal Assistance

  1. Run errands, such as grocery shopping and pharmacy visits.
  2. Provide support with meal preparation and occasional cooking.
  3. Assist with laundry and ironing.
  4. Monitor and restock household supplies.
  5. Handle mail, deliveries, and communication with external service providers.

Transportation

  1. Drive the principal to appointments, errands, and other destinations if and when needed.
  2. Arrange for and coordinate car maintenance.

Pet Care

  1. Care for the spaniel, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
  2. Take the dog for walks, let him out in the fenced in yard, and vet appointments as necessary.
  3. Ensure the dog is safe and cared for during the principal’s travels.

Travel Support

  1. Assist with packing and unpacking for trips.
  2. Arrange travel plans, including transportation and accommodations.
  3. Plan transportation to and from the airport.

House Sitting & Dog Sitting

  1. Oversee the home during the principal’s travels, ensuring its safety and security.
  2. Provide care and companionship for the dog while the principal is away.

Requirements:

  1. Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (a work vehicle can be provided for on-the-job duties).
  2. Ability to prepare meals and assist with cooking.
  3. Experience with household management, personal assistance, and pet care.
  4. Must be non-smoking.
  5. Minimum of 2 relevant references
  6. Background check upon contingent offer of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a similar role supporting private households.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Comfort and experience working with pets.
  • Cooking skills are a huge bonus.
